Our Initiatives

Our initiatives represent the core systems where autistic individuals—especially Black autistic individuals—are most impacted. Each arm of our work is designed to educate, protect, and support, while honoring the spirit of authenticity at the center of everything we do.

Just as a hive functions through distinct roles working toward a shared purpose, our initiatives are designed to address critical systems that impact autistic individuals through education, advocacy, and support.

The Awkward Autistic Black Girl has developed five initiatives designed to challenge misunderstanding, reduce harm, and create pathways to stability across the spaces where autistic individuals are most often overlooked. Together, they form a unified approach to systemic change—one that centers lived experience, equity, and long-term impact.

At The Awkward Autistic Black Girl, our initiatives are rooted in the belief that autistic individuals deserve to be understood, protected, and supported across every system that shapes their lives. Inspired by the structure of a hive—where each role serves a greater purpose—our five initiatives work together to address critical gaps in education, mental health care, law enforcement, housing stability, and elder care. Through advocacy, lived experience, and community-centered solutions, we are committed to creating pathways toward dignity, safety, and lasting change.
