our mission.

Our mission is to dismantle the stigma surrounding autism in Black women, girls, and AFAB communities by amplifying lived experiences through advocacy, storytelling, and education—centering authenticity and intersectionality.

The Awkward Autistic Black Girl exists to dismantle stereotypes, increase understanding, and provide resources that empower marginalized neurodivergent communities to thrive unapologetically.

Our Mission
At TAABG, our mission is to dismantle the stigma surrounding autism in Black women, girls, and AFAB communities by amplifying lived experiences through advocacy, storytelling, and education—centering authenticity and intersectionality. We believe that every story matters, and that the narratives we share have the power to shift perspectives, break barriers, and create lasting change.

We exist to dismantle harmful stereotypes by centering authentic, intersectional lived experiences. Through intentional advocacy, storytelling, and education, we work to increase understanding and expand access to resources that empower marginalized neurodivergent communities to thrive unapologetically. This means creating spaces where people can show up as their full selves—without fear of judgment, dismissal, or invisibility.

How We Live Our Mission

  • Storytelling: Amplifying authentic, intersectional lived experiences to challenge stigma, foster connection, and inspire change.

  • Advocacy: Uplifting and protecting our communities by speaking up in spaces where our voices have been excluded, ensuring representation and equity.

  • Education: Creating and sharing resources, workshops, and conversations that deepen understanding and promote inclusive, informed communities.

When you engage with TAABG, you are directly supporting advocacy, storytelling, and education efforts that elevate historically overlooked voices and contribute to a more equitable future for neurodivergent Black women, girls, and AFAB individuals.
